Sleeping Giant Mead is a husband and wife team working together to make high quality mead sustainably produced and emphasizing the use of local ingredients.
How it all started…
Jeff has long been interested in the art of fermentation. He began exploring this ancient art by making his own sauerkraut and kombucha. It was a miracle that Katie wasn’t scared off with all of these aromatic concoctions! But it was their combined interest in craft alcoholic beverages that helped bring a vision into greater focus as they started to explore brewing their own wine.
While the wine brewing was a fun hobby, they sought for something with greater meaning. Driven by a passion to create something unique and using raw ingredients that were abundant in their own community, they shifted their focus from brewing wine to brewing mead.
What’s next?
Jeff and Katie have been working hard to setup a small 190 square foot production meadery to be able to brew the recipes that they’ve been enjoying with friends and family for years and share them with the Pacific Northwest through local businesses and farmer’s markets.
